Looking to the past, grounded in the present
Mission
The Rabassaires project was born with the intention of recovering the traditional landscape of our region Vallès Occidental, nearby Barcelona, by planting and restoring urban and peri-urban vineyards, inspired by the historical rabassaires and reinterpreting the art of winemaking within cities and their surroundings.
Vision
We currently cultivate vineyards in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Terrassa and Cerdanyola, and we promote several projects across the Vallès Occidental region. Over the coming years, our goal is to become a benchmark in landscape and urban-health interpretation, replicating our model in other regions across the country.
PROCESS
At Rabassaires, everything begins in the vineyard. We care for each vine with patience and craftsmanship. We harvest by hand and allow the wine to express itself freely, without artifices or haste. Every bottle is an honest reflection of its land, its climate and the people who work it. Our process combines technique with sensitivity. In the vineyard, we observe; in the cellar, we accompany.
La terra marca el camí
Cuidem cada cep amb el mateix respecte amb què es treballa la terra: observant, escoltant i actuant només quan cal.
DEDICACIÓ I Verema manual
La verema es fa a mà, en el moment exacte en què el raïm arriba al seu punt d’equilibri. És el primer gest que defineix el caràcter dels nostres vins.
PRECISIÓ EN TOTS ALL PASSOS
D’arrel, sense filtre i honest
Cada ampolla diu d’on ve: Suburbial, Orbis, Brea. Paraules de ciutat. Vins amb memòria.
ORIGINS
At the end of the 19th century, Vallès Occidental was one of the regions most specialised in vine cultivation, but the arrival of phylloxera in 1883 caused a major crisis. Although many vines were replanted, the sector later faced overproduction and falling prices, leading to its decline until it nearly disappeared by 1950.
The Rabassaires were winegrowers who worked—and fought for—the land through rabassa morta contracts, which allowed them to cultivate it until two-thirds of the vines had died. Inspired by this historical figure, our project seeks to recover unused land in Vallès Occidental and restore its agricultural, cultural and landscape value through viticulture.
